My most secret work — Revealed

I’ve worked on a classified project as a UX designer , but here’s a piece of what I managed to expose.

During my not-very-long career, I’ve worked on a big project, involving a lot of different components and modules. The UX process was done right and was really insightful, I learned a lot from it, pushed myself to my personal professional limits and achieved some impressive results. The only thing is, this was a very classified project, and it has its constraints, and one of them is the the fact I can’t really tell anything about it. So, I’ll explain the process of my work on a classified project, under the censorship restrictions.

Research

This product’s users were pretty hard to understand. In order to understand their needs, we’ve sat for long meetings in which I observed their work and diagnosed their mental models and habits. I made a couple of personas, based on the my observations, and then created their user stories. What I realized about these users’ characteristics is… well, classified. But, let’s say it was really important and helped me understand some really important things in the next steps of work. I managed to get one page of the user research document I did, with some sensitive information erased.

Micro Copy

Given the fact this project’s users were very specific, I had to work very hard on defining the project’s voice & tone. You see, writing for these people is not just about filling ordinary templates, it’s about making the users fall in love with the product. I really wanted to share with you my voice & tone document, but unfortunately I couldn’t do it. What I did manage to do is copy + paste some lorem ipsum text, written in “American Typewriter” font, which I really love.

Sketching & Designing

I can’t show you this project’s sketches, but I sure can show you sketches of a porcupine riding a skateboard. It won’t explain the thinking process behind this classified project, but it will amuse you. Plus, I will add the drawing’s color-palette, in order to show you I’m serious about design.

Result

The results were pretty amazing. Although I can’t show any of the final design, I can show the expressions of the users’ faces when they used the product. Well, actually, I can’t show you the real users, so I’ll show you emojis describing the users’ feelings:

😃 😍 😌 😁 🙆🏽
